Today, the whole family went to a 交流会 "ko ryu kai" or international exchange event for kids sponsored by Yonago city. A month or so ago, Hana received an invitation to attend. It's for elementary and junior high schoolers of mixed descent. All kids in Yonago whose father or mother is a foreigner got invited. It was very small, but interesting and fun. Hana and Rika were the only North American kids. We didn't know anyone there. I know a lot of westerners with kids in Yonago, but most of them are under elementary school age. There were only 10 kids who attended, but many countries represented including; Korea, The Philippines, Malaysia, and Slovakia. The purpose of the event is for kids of mixed descent to get to know each other and have fun. After a brief, international overview, there were ice breaker type games with the kids in groups to get to know each other. Later, there was an international flag coloring craft time. Everyone was really friendly and the kids had fun. A Filipino woman introduced the game "jacks" or in the Philippines, "jackstone". Even the parents played. I volunteered to help out next year and introduce some American game, maybe I'll try hopscotch. Afterword, we got Yoshinoya Gyudon for lunch.

That's interesting Jason, I didn't know the city did anything like that! Looking forward to taking part in a few years...
