Hi and welcome, My name's Jason Winter and this is my blog. I was born and bred in Kansas City, Ks. and graduated from KU, home of the Jayhawks. After a stint in the Peace Corps in Paraguay, I decided to continue my international experience and go to Japan. I'd always been interested in Japanese culture, anime, and movies. Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge Godzilla and Japanese monsters fan. In 2000, I secured a job teaching English. I told the company, I didn't want to go to a big city like Tokyo or Osaka and they sent me to Yonago City. I thought I'd be here for a couple of years or so, but then I met Junko and all that changed. We were married in 2003 and we have two daughters, Hana and Rika. Yonago's a great place to live and raise a family and I've been here for over ten years. Still, Japan's not America, there's something new or strange everyday.
I have two purposes with this blog:
1. To keep friends and family(and anyone else who's interested) up to date on the latest with the Winter's in Yonago.
2. To introduce and share Japan as I know it to everyone. My posts will be divided into different ongoing series about life in Japan, including Japanese culture, holidays, What's this?, snacks and other fun stuff. Just check the labels section. I welcome and encourage any questions or comments on my posts. Please enjoy and come again.
